Congratulations to Louis “Archie” Stewart, he is our April athlete of the month! Archie joined CrossFit in June and has worked hard over the past 9 nine months in and out of the gym to become healthier, fitter, and lighter (he’s lost over 50 pounds!). Keep up the good work Archie!

What makes you, you?

There are several things that makes me who I am. Those things are my parents and some of their life experiences, my closest friends and some of their life experiences, and lastly all of my personal life experiences and the way I perceive them.


Describe your experience at CFNC.

WOW, my experiences here at CFNC have been EXTREMELY humbling. Day 1 (June 11th, 2014), I had an issue with simple air squats and I couldn’t squat 185lbs without having low back pain. Now, I’ve progressed to a point where 305lbs is my 3 rep max and my 1 rep max is truly untested (for squats). Since being here, my experience has placed me on the path of developing myself physically into what is best for me. 


What has been your favorite CrossFit moment thus far?

Before I started Crossfit, I wasn’t as aware of the food I ate, its correlation to physical fitness, and the concept that “food is medicine.” After starting Crossfit, I later had my annual physical for work. When the results came back, I was very excited and immediately called Craig and told him that the results from my blood work were in the perfect range. 


What are your major life goals?

The next major life goal I have is to buy a house. I am in a position to do so now but I am not ready just yet.

What are three of your current CrossFit goals?

1.)    Develop the best mobility and techniques for all lifts (especially my overhead squats and squat snatch)

2.)    Attend the CrossFit Mobility Trainer Course whenever it is close to town.

3.)    Just… “Go So Hard!”

 

What is your favorite WOD?

I prefer the strength sessions before the WOD. Especially anything that focuses on bench press, squats, deadlifts, or shoulder to overhead press. Secondly, I like sessions that address my weakest energy system (The Glycolytic System).

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In 5 years, I see myself as a stronger version of who I am today. I am going to be a stronger lifter, faster runner with more lean muscle mass. Of course I have goals as well outside of Crossfit, umm….


What is your favorite “cheat” meal?

Anything that says Little Debbie (zebra cakes)!!!


What do you hope to achieve through CrossFit?

Through Crossfit, I have become healthier.  A lot of people have noticed and asked questions as to “HOW.” I’ve shared the information I’ve learned with them. I hope to continue to be inspired and hopefully inspire other people with my changing lifestyle.


What is the most challenging aspect of CrossFit?

Humbling myself and leaving my EGO at the door.


Share a favorite recipe!

Rotel Dip and Doritos:

1 pound of ground meat beef, turkey, or pork (I like beef)

1 block of Velveeta cheese

2 cans of Rotel

Season the ground beef to taste and cook. Melt the block of Velveeta cheese. Mix the ground meat, Velveeta cheese, and two cans of Rotel. Pour on the chips and eat up.
