Congratulations to our November Athlete of the Month, Gregg Hauptner! Gregg has been a member and dedicated 6 am-er for the past year. If there’s a 6am class, you can count on Gregg to be there ready to work hard! Athlete Profile- Gregg Hauptner

What makes you, you?
I’m a very passionate person who enjoys sports and the outdoors, working hard and trying to better myself both personally and professionally every day.

Describe your experience at CFNC.
I vividly recall the first few classes nearly a year ago, next month to be exact. Being extremely heathy and fit as a twenty something, it was a “holy @#%$” experience realizing in how bad of shape I had become. The trainers at CFNC has given me the opportunity to regain my fitness and health and for that I am truly grateful. One of the best decisions I have made was walking through those doors and starting this journey.

What are your major life goals?
I would eventually like to have my own business, still in the working stages of determining exactly what that will be. I also would like to finally meet Mrs. Right and start a family. Clocks a ticking!

What has been your favorite CrossFit moment so far?
Mostly the support and comradery at the box. Everyone there is so supportive and encouraging which makes getting up at 5:15am a true pleasure. Also, progressing in some of the core movements and seeing the results during the WODs.

What are your three major CrossFit goals?
Competing in the open next year and making a commitment to succeed at each workout. Mastering my “goats” i.e. DUs, OHS and the snatch to name a few. Incorporating the proper diet into my daily activities to being able to sustain proper form during the exercises.

What has been your favorite CrossFit WOD and why?
14.5, because it absolutely kicked my ass!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Hopefully managing my own business, but definitely in a sales management position with Safety-Kleen environmental services.

Share a recipe for a favorite meal.


What is your favorite cheat meal?
Lobster, oysters, shrimp generally any type of seafood. Not big on the fried variety  just love fresh seafood, oh and steaks. I’m having both for dinner tonight! 

What is the most challenging aspect of CrossFit?
Although my motor is getting stronger, my aerobic sustainability needs work. I am consciously trying to break less during WODs and also Rx more workouts.

What do you hope to achieve through CrossFit?
A continued mental and physical growth in life through exercise and strive to be that you guys are the single biggest reason and motivation for my success. Thank you!
