We want to send a HUGE thank you to everyone who came out and/or brought friends for our community day today! We had over 30 people from the community join us for a workout!!

And now, your athlete of the month for December is Jodi Peppin! Jodi has come a long way over the past year at CFNC in her strength and is a very dedicated member of the gym. She is a great example of hard work and effort paying off in the long run. Keep up the good work and #gainz, Jodi!

Athlete Profile

What makes you, you?
I’m 28. I grew up in a very small country town in Northern California called Marysville. I moved here 10 years ago to be with my amazing husband, who has helped me accomplish a lot of my dreams in life. I am a very shy person, with a big heart, and a passion for fitness and helping others.

Describe your experience at CFNC.
My experience here has been the best!! It’s truly amazing to watch people come in and shed pounds, accomplish goals, and lift way more than what they started with. Just an awesome place to be a part of. Craig and Cara always give me corrective feed back, in which I love! Thank you guys for that. These two are amazing coaches. CFNC is a place where everyone feels like family.

What are your major life goals?
To live for Jesus, to be the best wife possible, and to always remember to be humble, caring, and loving to everyone.

What has been your favorite CrossFit moment so far?
Watching everyone else’s successes are the best!!

For myself, a personal favorite would be hitting 100 lbs. I have weighed the same since about 8th grade (85 lbs). After joining CrossFit I gained 15 lbs over just a few months, breaking 100 lbs for the first time in my life!! Not that I ever cared or thought that I needed to weigh more, but with it came STRENGTH. So seeing the scale hit 100 was exciting!

What are your three major CrossFit goals?
Strict Hand Stand Push Up
Muscle Up
Squat 185 lbs

What has been your favorite CrossFit WOD and why?
I love them all! Especially the ones that challenge me the most. And yes the ones that have rowing involved too, it’s bitter sweet.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I see myself still doing CrossFit, and I would like to get involved in a community giving back and helping others.

Share a favorite recipe?

Tilapia or other white fish
White Onions
Salt (optional)
Avocado (optional)
Flat corn tortillas

Uncooked chopped fish, diced white onions, lime juice mixed together. Set in refrigerator for 4-6 hours, “marinating” in the lime juice cooks the fish. Then add tomatoes, and cilantro, and salt (optional). Spread mayonnaise onto hard corn tortilla or round tortilla chip, add spoonful of Ceviche (fish ingredients) on top of tortilla, and top with avocado. Ready to serve!

What is your favorite cheat meal?
Umm, everything!! I love food, especially Mexican food.

What is the most challenging aspect of CrossFit?
I would have to say my mind giving up before my body actually gives up is the hardest challenge. Fighting your mind to stick with it, when you feel like giving up.

What advice would you give to anyone just starting CrossFit?
It looks intimidating, but it’s not. A building filled with people just like you, who all once too had to start somewhere. It’s a room filled with people you have at least 1 thing in common with, physical exercise. No excuses, you want it, you got to fight for it. No ones going to do it for you. Push yourself, and push yourself hard. It’s going to be uncomfortable, but it’s not going to kill you. It requires sacrifices!!
