Congrats to Kleber Wells, August Athlete of the Month!! Wells helped us envision long ago what our gym has become today and has been an official member for two years. Big thanks to him for always bringing a friendly smile and positive attitude to the gym (even when we program parter DT with burpee penalties)!

Athlete Profile: Kleber Wells

What makes you, you?
Having the first name of Kleber has allowed me to learn how to roll with the punches and just make the best out of the situation.  If you can’t laugh and smile at yourself then who can you laugh and smile at?

Describe your experience at CFNC.
CFNC has brought a new level of confidence and rejuvenation in my life.  I love the inspiration and friendships that have been formed in that sweltering hot place.

What are your major life goals?
I am looking to maintain a healthy and fun lifestyle.  Crossfit has allowed me to to have those and has opened so many new goals.

What has been your favorite CrossFit moment so far?
This is a two folded answer.  The first being completely destroyed by a partner DT WOD with Lenny and second getting my first  muscle up in both bar and rings.  Bignastics came alive those days.

What are your three major CrossFit goals?

  • Handstand Walk for days
  • Snatch 225
  • RX Murph in under an hour

What has been your favorite CrossFit WOD and why?
I love Grace. I like the fact that is just so fast paced.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Hopefully still smiling and laughing in this great city and with great friends, family and possibly a girlfriend.

Share a recipe for a favorite clean meal.
Wrap a piece of Mahi-Mahi (freshly caught on my boat, duhh) in banana leaves and place that into a rice steamer above the rice.  The jasmine rice with lemon grass will be cooking in the steamer and steam cook the fish.  Too easy.

What is your favorite cheat meal?
My Grandmother’s homemade cinnamon rolls, biscuits and gravy, eggs and bacon. You could also throw in an Irish coffee to seal the deal.

What is the most challenging aspect of CrossFit?
Telling your brain to shut up and stop telling you to quit. Everyone can do it.

What do you hope to achieve through CrossFit?
I hope to keep up this amazing life I have and keep making new friends while working out.

What is your personal “walk out song”?

My song would be “Cruel Summer” by Banarama but I would be doing karate moves like Ralph Macchio on my way out.
