What makes you, you?
First off, wow! Thank you for the honor guys!
I really believe in the whole “work hard play hard” mentality. Not like going out and raging all the time or anything haha, but more just finding time to enjoy life and the simple things. I work really hard at what I do, but I also make sure I have plenty of time to do other things I love, like spend time with my husband and Pup, or catch up with friends and family, go on an adventure, explore a new place, try a new restaurant or bakery, or even just relaxing.
Describe your experience at CFNC.
Shout out to Mary Oster who got me started here! I’m going to be honest I was hesitant because crossfit can get a bad name, but I love the community here, everyone is so awesome and encouraging! I also love how much I have really learned and improved my life by working out and changing my nutrition.
What are your major life goals?
Well those are more focused in my career, which is baking & pastry/culinary, BUT, since being here I have played with the idea of including a little more of a health aspect to it. Ideally I would like to have my own place someday, but we will see, there are so many interesting jobs in the food & bev industry, you never know where you will end up, and I like to take every opportunity thrown at me!
What has been your favorite CrossFit moment so far?
Where do I start?! doing a handstand, or a double under, or improving my burpees but I guess the biggest one was realizing how much I improved over the six week healthy eating challenge. And really, most of the accomplishments that I’ve made were during the challenge, which has me excited about trying to keep up the good work!
What are your 3 major CrossFit goals?
My big goal is to be able to do a pull up, but I also want to be able to string together a lot more than 2-3 double unders, and just get stronger overall.
What has been your favorite CrossFit WOD and why?
As awful as it was, I think the baseline WOD that we did for the healthy eating challenge is my favorite because it really pushed me and I loved surprising myself. the first time we did it, I didn’t think I was going to finish, and then the second time I could tell how much stronger I was!
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
These questions are always so hard. In 5 years I hope that I am either in a great job that I like or opening my own place, and hopefully still doing crossfit and staying healthy!
Share a recipe for a favorite clean meal.
The best is anything that can be made into a taco!!!
shrimp, chicken, steak, you name it. I love making it with a cilantro lime slaw, red cabbage, a little greek yogurt instead of mayo, lots of lime juice and zest and cilantro and then some salt pepper and chili powder. you can even make it into a bowl and do some brown rice! mmm
What is your favorite cheat meal?
mac & cheese… or pizza. Really, I love all food, I’m an equal opportunist.
What is the most challenging aspect of CrossFit?
Not giving up.
What advice would you give to someone new to CrossFit?
It might feel overwhelming at first but give yourself some time to get into it and you will find you are improving and surprising yourself everyday! As craig said to me when I first started, “it’s always going to be hard, but it’s not always going to suck this much”
What is your personal “walkout song” or anthem?
Light it up- major Lazer
