Athlete Profile-William Black
What makes you, you?
My faith in God and my awesome family. I love to create, whether its painting or making things with my hands.
Describe your experience at CFNC.
I love CFNC. The coaches are awesome and so are the people. Transitioning from owning a gym to being a member of a gym took me a while to navigate. Craig and Cara made it an easy transition. They have created an amazing community that I love being a part of. I don’t think people who are new to the gym really understand what a good gym this is.
What are your major life goals?
To become a full time artist. To travel to Europe and see all of the paintings and sculptures of the old masters.
To be the best example for my boys.
What are your 3 major CrossFit goals?
To stay active and healthy
To one day CrossFit with my sons Aaron and Alex
To RX a workout with muscle ups
What has been your favorite CrossFit moment so far?
When I was coaching at another gym and I got to see how CrossFit helped people be able to do life better. Seeing people learn how to move correctly and how to better take care of themselves.
What has been your favorite CrossFit WOD and why?
Murph. It is a workout that I have been able to do with the CrossFit community in Charleston and as a gym. It is a workout that is a remembrance of the sacrifice a soldier made for his country.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I would like to be a full time artist. In some capacity helping people use their creativity

Andouille Sausage & Rice
We usually pair with Pork Chops but you can make with any protein
4 tablespoons butter, ghee or coconut oil, divided
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 yellow onion, minced
1 red bell pepper, finely chopped
2 chicken andouille sausages, chopped
1 small cauliflower, riced
1 cup chicken broth
1 teaspoon fine sea salt
½ teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon chili powder
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 6-ounce can of tomato paste
Place 2 tablespoons of butter in a large sauté pan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and onion and sauté until onions are translucent.
Add red pepper and sausage to the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes then add riced cauliflower and 1 cup broth. Then add all spices and salt. Mix and cook for about 10 minutes, until cauliflower cooks and becomes soft.
Lastly, add tomato paste and cook for a couple minutes until warm
What is your favorite cheat meal?
What is the most challenging aspect of CrossFit?
The mental side. I think way too much about things
What advice would you give to someone new to CrossFit?
Look at CrossFit as something you do for a lifetime. Listen to your coaches, they have your best in mind.
