What makes you, you?
*Disclaimer* I went to school in Alabama, so don’t judge the grammar here. One of my two C’s in college was English 1101 and the teacher always told me there are 23 rules to a comma learn them. I never learned them as much as I tried, so don’t judge too hard. The thing that really makes me, me is that I never take anything serious. I always have a great time everywhere I go. I physically don’t have the ability to frown, which I’m okay with because that just means I smile more. I love joking around and just hanging out. My favorite saying is that I’ll try anything twice, because you need try new things all the time and sometimes if you don’t like it the first time it could just be a fluke so try again. I also don’t think a lot when I’m not at work, so I tend to say and do a lot of dumb things. Since high school all of my coaches and friends describe me as “the dumbest smart person I know”. I am a little bit of a good ole boy, I love fishing, hunting, and mudding. I have a huge truck because I love big trucks and figured why not get one, so I did and I’ve never regretted it. My favorite kind of day is getting a good workout in then going out and relaxing on a boat, which is hard to do right now because I don’t have a boat. One day I’ll have a boat and then I’ll probably have a lot more friends.

Describe your experience at CFNC.
Since walking in the doors on a random Saturday morning while I was looking at places to live everyone was so nice and friendly. I knew that I wanted to join this gym. I actually based my first place to live in Charleston off of where was closest to the gym, because that’s the priority. I’ve been challenged a lot more at CFNC than I have at any other gym which is a great feeling. I constantly improve every day. All the people at the gym are so great and welcoming. Now I have my gym boo Kay Kay who’s the best person in the gym and brightens my day every day.

What are your major life goals?
1) Get a boat
2) Own a crossfit gym/ full time crossfit
3) Marry rich so I can have the other two goals

What are your 3 major CrossFit goals?
1) Consistently run a sub 7 min mile pace on workouts
2) Do 60 pull-ups unbroken
3) Qualify for a competition

What has been your favorite CrossFit moment so far?
Favorite moment so far was when I got first place in a co-ed competition back in Alabama, was a really great feeling.

What has been your favorite CrossFit WOD and why?
Easiest question thus far, Isabel hands down. 30 snatches for time. It’s super simple, and super-fast. Any workout that can last under 3 minutes is always my favorite.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I have a hard time seeing myself in 5 days let alone 5 years. Hopefully, I’ll still be in the Navy (Hooyah Navy) doing something cool. Hopefully have a boat that I can go live my best life on. Still will be doing crossfit for sure.

Share a recipe for a favorite clean meal.
Step 1) Realize you can’t cook
Step 2) Get in the car and go somewhere that sounds healthy
Step 3) Try to order something healthy off the menu

What is your favorite cheat meal?
Besides Michelob ultra, I would have to say any nachos at a restaurant. I love good BBQ nachos.

What is the most challenging aspect of CrossFit?
The most challenging part for me, is always the having to wait and work on things in order to improve. I’ve always been able to just pick stuff up really fast, but with crossfit you have to be patient and trust the process and get better over time.

What advice would you give to someone new to CrossFit?
I always say you should do it, crossfit is for everyone. You don’t have to be fit or even athletic to do crossfit. People have this idea in their head that’s it’s a bunch of meat heads yelling a lot and throwing stuff around, when in reality more people in the gym are normal people who spend about 85% of their time in the gym talking to other people. Then every once in a while workout for a few minutes.
