Congrats to Joe for being our October Athlete of the month! Joe has been putting in work over the last 2 yrs, and it shows! Joe has definitely been on the gain train!!

Top Gun was just released and someone was feeling “Dangerous”!

What makes you, you?

The ability to talk to almost anyone, anywhere at anytime.

Describe your experience at CFNC.

Fun.  A normal workout at a normal gym is not what I would call fun, just something I did.  The first time I did a very scaled back version of a Metcon, my lungs were on fire and I enjoyed it, I knew this was going to be a different type of experience everyday.

What are your major life goals?

As an elder statesman within the gym, I’ve probably reached many of my life goals but I’m not done yet.  My one future life goal would be to have a vacation home in the Florida Keys.

What are your 3 major CrossFit goals?

 1.     Get a little better everyday.

2.     Push myself way beyond my comfort zone in Metcons I do not particularly like.

3.     Have better form on my lifts.

What has been your favorite CrossFit moment so far?

Personally getting my first bar muscle up.  It is a movement I always felt was going to be too difficult for me, but I tried everyday after class anyways.  Then finally one day I didn’t think about it and just did it.

As a father it is watching Alexa learn to enjoy CrossFit as much as I do.

What has been your favorite CrossFit WOD and why?

Partner WOD’s are my favorite.  I also like any WOD that works every aspect of your upper and lower body.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

 Retired from the fire department.

Share a recipe for a favorite clean meal.

This is not my creation and it sounds disgusting but trust me its not.  I don’t know if it’s my favorite but it’s my go to when I need something quick and light that travels well.  ¾ cup of greek yogurt, 1 to 2 scoops protein powder, ½ cups of oats and some milk.  You can also add anything else you would like: peanut butter, vanilla, sliced banana or whatever.  Mix it all together and let it sit overnight in the refrigerator.  It will be the consistency of peanut butter and does taste good.

What is your favorite cheat meal?

 Pizza, wings and beer.

What is the most challenging aspect of CrossFit?

Results take time so you must be patient.

What advice would you give to someone new to CrossFit?

Just try it if you’re interested.  It may seem intimidating at first, believe me I know, but you’ll never find a more inviting group of people.

What is your personal ‘walkout song’ or anthem?

 Welcome to the Jungle.
