Congrats to Gabby for being our August athlete of the month! You can see her and her infectious smile in the afternoon classes!
Learn a bit more about her below:
What makes you, you?
One of my biggest values is that it is the people that are what matter, and they are what make our experiences what they are! So, I really enjoy talking to and meeting new people, and seeking experiences that allow me the chance to do so.
Describe you experience at CFNC?
My experience at CFNC has been great! I have really enjoyed the people, and the coaches have been really encouraging. One of my favorite parts of my day is coming and seeing all the people at the 5:15 class!
What are your major life goals?
One of my major life goals was to be a teacher, and I am about to start my second year! Now, my major goals are to continue to grow and learn in my profession, and assist my students in being more kind, aware, and proactive people in making the world a better place. I also want to go to Greece and recreate every scene in Mamma Mia.
What are your 3 major CrossFit goals?
My three major CrossFit goals are:
1. Do a pull-up
2. Improve my cleans
3. Squat 200 pounds
What has been your favorite CrossFit moment so far?
So I dont know if I have one favorite CrossFit moment! My favorite moments have been the ones that happen each day, like when someone hits a PR or is encouraging me to finish a workout.
What has been your favorite CrossFit WOD and why?
My favorite WOD is anything (or most things) with rowing or box jump burpees! I really enjoy those movements.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Happy and doing what I enjoy to do! And, with a dog.
Share a recipe for a favorite clean meal.
One of my favorite clean meals is a bowl of brown rice, black beans, salsa, corn, and meatless protein crumbles (which you can totally sub. with chicken).
What is your favorite cheat meal?
My favorite cheat meal is the Burger King Impossible Burger and fries from McDonalds (McDonalds fries are so much better).
What is the most challenging aspect of CrossFit?
The most challenging aspect of CrossFit is not overthinking the workout. Sometimes I overthink a movement and cant get it out of my head, and I am working on letting it go and just moving!
What advice would you give to someone new to CrossFit?
For someone new, I would say set small goals for yourself each day! One of our coaches said it best the other day: if you never set small goals for yourself, you will struggle in hitting your big goals. So, set a goal for yourself each workout, and just show up!
What is your personal 'walkout song' or anthem
Definitely Dancing Queen by ABBA.
